HF Facility Status
Mike Sulzer
The HF facility is now dry and is expected to stay that
way for some time. A court hearing on the injunction to stop the pumping
of water from the wetland on which the facility is located has not yet been
scheduled. Unusually high rainfall continued into January, but nonetheless
repairs on the east half of the HF array was completed on schedule, and
work on the west half continues on schedule also. Much of the task consists
of the reestablishment of antenna-tower guy-wire anchors, many of which
were pulled out because of the flooding and Hurricane Hortense. All four
transmitters have been successfully tested into the dummy load. Tests with
the antenna are proceeding now.
