Comings and Goings

Bryan MacPherson recently joined the atmospheric sciences staff as our new "space weather" post-doc. Bryan comes to us from Scotland via the University of Sheffield in England where he just obtained his Ph.D. He will be working mostly in the area of ionosphere/thermosphere theoretical modeling in support of our experimental programs and will participate in our space weather project in collaboration with JPL.

Promotion

We congratulate Qihou Zhou on his recent promotion to Senior Research Associate.

Reappointment

At her request, Jo Ann Eder has been appointed as a half-time Research Associate in Radio Astronomy, effective in February 1998. In this capacity, she will continue to administer the Arecibo Summer Student program and will be involved in scientific research and visitor support activities.
