Bill Genter Transfers to Arecibo

Edgar Castro

Bill Genter came to the NAIC/Ithaca Electronics Lab from private industry in 1973, during our first upgrade project. Bill then participated in the design and construction of the new S-band masers and devised new concepts for the cooled receivers. He was also involved in the planning of the Higuillales interferometer facility.

Once the first upgrade project was finished, Bill continued working on new systems and served as a special liaison between NAIC/Ithaca and Arecibo.

On December 1995, AO had the opportunity to offer Bill a permanent position in the Electronics Department starting in March 1996. His contributions to Arecibo will continue through the current upgrade and beyond as the person responsible for the telescope receiver systems.
